In consultation with Ms. Regusch from the Märkischer Kreis, we refer to the BNatSchG (Federal Nature Conservation Act):

Section 3 - Special protection of species (§§ 44 - 47), Chapter 5 - Protection of wild animal and plant species, their habitats and biotopes (§§ 37 - 55).

(5) 1Notwithstanding the prohibitions in section 44(1)(1) and the prohibitions on possession, it is also permissible, subject to hunting law provisions, to take in injured, helpless or sick animals in order to nurse them back to health.
